Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA) funding provides in home nursing with a focus on assisting you to continue living independently by supporting your health, wellbeing and community connection.
Are Veteran Gold Card and Veteran White Card holders eligible?
If you or your loved one has represented Australia in active military service, you may be eligible to receive Community Nursing Services. Eligibility applies to: · Department of Veteran’s Affairs clients who have a Gold Card. The Gold Card is also known as a Veteran Gold Card or a Repatriation Health Card for all conditions. · Department of Veteran’s Affairs clients who have a White Card. The White Card is also known as the Veteran White Card needs pre approval by DVA for any services.
How do I get services?
Referral from an authorized referral service:
– General Practitioner (GP)
– Treating medical practitioner in a hospital
– Hospital discharge planner
– Nurse practitioner specializing in a community nursing field
What services can I get?
The Department of Veterans Affairs services that are available are:
In-Home Nursing
In-home nursing provides clinical nursing and/or personal care services in your home delivered by registered nurses, enrolled nurses and support staff.

In most cases, to be eligible to receive community nursing services for an assessed clinical need, an entitled person must hold either a Gold Card or a White Card.
